EU seeks pact on hedge funds

Article reports that hard bargaining is intensifying December 2009 over Europe’s efforts to regulate hedge funds and private equity funds on a pan-European basis for the first time.

Six months of furious lobbying by the fund management industry has resulted in two heavily amended versions of the original proposals put forward by the European Parliament and the Swedish EU Presidency for the European Commission to consider.
