EurActiv reported that the European Commission and the Swiss Government had ironed out their differences to move ahead with a process aimed at simplifying 'without delay' the complex network of bilateral agreements governing EU-Swiss relations, February 2011.

However, Swissinfo.ch reported that 'Nothing new was achieved during 'lively' discussions with top European Union officials on the 8 February 2011, Swiss Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey admitted to journalists'.
