EU to present UN resolution to seize migrant smugglers’ boats

Federica Mogherini, the European Union's High-Representative for Foreign Policy, was scheduled to brief the United Nation's Security Council on 11 May 2015 regarding the destruction of boats used by smugglers to bring migrants across the Mediterranean.

According to media reports, he UN backing was likely to be difficult with veto-holding China and Russia – in particular – especially wary of allowing military operations.
