Article reported that the European Commission’s 110-page draft text of 'supplementing rules' to enforce the contentious Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (AIFMD), issued in the spring of 2012, was causing alarm amongst the hedge fund and private equity industries in Europe, partly because it diverged from the European Securities and Markets Authority advice.

However, the European Commissioner for the Internal Market Michel Barnier rejected the accusations on the 2 April 2012.
