An annual national survey produced by NatCen Social Research and released in March 2015 concluded that the European Union (EU) was more unpopular in the United Kingdom than at any time in the previous 20 years.

The report stated that 63% of Britons were considered Eurosceptic, an attitude defined as wanting to leave, or reduce the powers of the EU. Despite a growth in Eurosceptic sentiment, the majority of the public still wanted to stay in the EU.
