FN founder Jean-Marie Le Pen suspended from far-right party

On the 4 May 2015 Jean-Marie Le Pen was suspended from the National Front (FN) in France after he had faced a disciplinary hearing for making for making inflammatory comments about the Holocaust.

Jean-Marie Le Pen had founded in 1972 and built up the National Front over many years. His daughter Marine Le Pen now led the party.

Following his suspension, Mr Le Pen decided to fight to remain in the party by taking it to court. Marine Le Pen dismissed the move as 'media sabotage'.
