Foreign Affairs Council, 12-13 May 2016

A meeting of the Foreign Affairs Council was held in Brussels on 12-13 May 2016. Its agenda included the following items:

+ Orientation debate on the revision of the European consensus on development, following the adoption of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development;

+ Debate on joint programming of external assistance by the European Union and its member states;

+ Debate on trade and development, focusing on the EU's contribution to the private sector in implementing the 2030 agenda;

+ Discussion on migration and development, following up on the results of the Valletta summit in November 2015: Emergencu Trust Fund, high-level dialogues, EU support to refugees and displaced people;

+ Discussion on humanitarian issues in preparation for the World Humanitarian Summit, taking place in Istanbul on 23-24 May;

+ Exchange of views on the preparation for the Brussels conference on Afghanistan, taking place on 4-5 October.
