France failed to secure further relief measure for its struggling livestock farmers at a meeting of the Agriculture and Fisheries Council on 15 February 2016. The European Commission asked French authorities to come back with new proposals at a later stage.

French farmers have been protesting over persistent low prices and calling for more regulation on oversupply of milk and pigmeat products.
