France to host conference on Iraq

Preview and reports of an international conference on the peace and security of Iraq, Paris, 15 September 2014 in the context of the threat to Iraq, neighbouring Syria and the region from Islamic State (ISIL).

French President Francois Hollande visited Iraq on the 12 September 2014 to prepare for the conference.

On the 18 September 2014 President François Hollande told the French press the country would conduct an air assault campaign on the Islamic militants, in support of Iraqi troops and at the request of leaders in Baghdad.
