EurActiv reported that France scored a provisional victory in the battle for the EU's long-term budget when the European Commission proposed on the 29 June 2011 its long-awaited proposals for the EU's next seven-year budget (2014-2020) to leave support for farmers broadly unchanged until 2020. A deal with Germany on regional funds appeared to be the key to France's success.
