French far-right National Front wins first ever seats in Senate

In the French senate election on the 28 September 2014, two representatives of the far-right Front National (FN) won seats in the French upper house for the first time.

The move came as part of a broad swing to the right that saw Socialist President François Hollande lose his majority in the upper house of parliament.
