Emmanuel Macron and Sigmar Garbriel, economy ministers from France and Germany, envisaged a two-speed integration as the solution to solve the European Union's challenges, in an opinion article published by The Guardian on 3 June 2015. The ministers called for greater fiscal and social harmonisation in the Eurozone, saying other EU countries like the United Kingdom should be allowed to settle for a less integrated Union based on the single market. |
