Further discussions on energy policy between Russia, Ukraine and the European Union

The European Commission's vice president for Energy Union visited Russia on 25 November 2016, during which he held meetings to discuss topics related to energy policy.

The Commissioner also announced further trilateral meetings with Russia and Ukraine to continue discussing gas supplies for the Winter period. A meeting was held on 6 December.

The EU's involvement followed a request by Ukraine during the Summer, wishing for mediation as regards securing its gas purchases from Russia's Gazprom.
