Germany wants EU border controls extended

Germany, France, Austria, Belgium, Denmark and Sweden sent a joint letter to the European Commission on the 2 May 2016 requesting a six-month extension to their ability to impose temporary border controls.

A decision on the request was expected on the 4 May 2016.
