Greece pulls back from the brink / Deutsche Bank warns on voluntary rollover / Violence escalates after Greek vote

Greece pulled back from the brink of default and averted a broader eurozone crisis after backing sweeping austerity measures in a knife-edge parliamentary vote held on the 29 June 2011. However, the Greek government would also have to emerge victorious from a vote on the linked implementation law on the 30 June 2011.

Violence escalated in central Athens on the 29 June 2011 after the Parliament vote with reports of dozens of protesters and police officers being injured in running battles.

Greece's Parliament passed a bill to implement the belt-tightening measures on the 30 June 2011.
