A former Greek socialist deputy prime minister Akis Tsochatzopoulos with a home in 'billionaire’s alley' – an Athens street overlooking the historic Parthenon temple – was due to be questioned on the 7 June 2010 about his property holdings by the governing Socialist Party’s transparency committee.

Analysts said that the the move against Mr Tsochatzopoulos, a senior party member who held a succession of cabinet posts in the 1980s and 1990s, raised the stakes in the government’s anti-corruption campaign.
