Greek elections pushed back to April

EUObserver reported that governing parties in Greece agreed in December 2011 that a general election in Greece to replace the technocratic administration of Prime Minister Lucas Papademos would be pushed back to April 2012, although there was still disagreement as to whether it should be before or after the Greek Easter.

The current government decided it needed two additional months to settle plans outlining fresh austerity and structural adjustment demanded by international lenders and to complete negotiations with creditors over a multi-billion-euro debt write-down.
