European Union's Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn visited Serbia on 7 May 2015.

During his meeting with Serbian prime minister Aleksandar Vučić, the main discussion topic was the accession of the country to the EU and its related negotiations. Confronted with allegations that the process had stalled, Mr Hahn talked about the need for Serbia to fully implement the criteria. In contrast, Mr Vučić insisted that his country had met the EU's requirements and it was down to the EU authorities to make the move. The economic difficulties and the relations with Russia were also part of the agenda.

Serbia's EU membership talks officially started in January 2014.

German MEP David McAllister, who is also European Parliament's rapporteur for Serbia, told EurActiv in June 2015 that a normalisation of the relations between Serbia and Kosovo might be key to unlock further accession negotiations.
