EurActiv reported on a study 'Pure power' published in August 2011 by the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA). The report stated that half of the EU’s electricity requirements could be fuelled by wind power by 2050. The EWEA renewed calls for the European Commission to impose a target for renewable energy beyond 2020.
