High Level conference on the European Pillar of Social Rights

The European Commission organised on 23 January 2017 a high livel conference concerning the European Pillar of Social Rights to mark the conclusion of the public consultation launched in March 2016.

It was also announced that a 'Social Summit for Fair Jobs and Growth' was going to be held on 17 November 2017.

The European Pillar of Social Rights was announced during the State of the Union speech in September 2015. The Committee of the Regions issued an Opinion on this subject in October 2016 and the European Parliament adopted a resolution in January 2017. A legislative proposal was expected to be put forward in March 2017.
