Italy back in recession

According to Italy's National Institute for Statistics (Istat) the country's economy shrank in the second quarter of 2014 as well as in the first, meaning that the EU's third largest economy was back in recession. Commentators feared that new Prime Minister Matteo Renzi was failing to address the real problems with his reforms, fearing Italy's downturn would spread to the rest of Europe.
