The meeting welcomed the European Union into the discussions, resulting in the expansion of the group into a Quartet. A discussion was held on the situation in Libya and on further coordination regarding the efforts undertaken by the members to advance the political process and assist Libya in its democratic transition.

The Quartet reaffirmed their commitment to the terrtorial integrity and national unity of the country and its institutions under the Libyan Political Agreement (LPA). It highlighted the need for a peaceful resolution of the situation and rejected the use of armed forced by the Libyan parties as well as any foreign military intervention.

The Libya Quartet is composed by the European Union (EU), the African Union (AU), the League of Arab States (LAS) and the United Nations (UN).The International Quartet on Libya held a meeting on 18 March 2017.
