Laszlo Andor, responsible for the employment and social affairs portfolio in the Barroso II European Commission, 2009-2014 told EUObserver during an interview in October 2014 that the new European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker's €300 billion investment plan was meant to lay the ground for a fiscal union without explicitly mentioning it. First Vice-President Frans Timmermans of the new European Commission, 2014-2019 said on the 12 November 2014 that the European Commission hoped to be able to present the suggested €300bn investment package at the European Council in December 2014. |
