As the 23rd of June 2016 approaches LSE BrextiVote introduces a series of contributions entitled ‘Can London live without the EU?’. London is home to over a million citizens of another EU country. The City is Europe’s biggest financial centre. The polls suggest Londoners will vote to remain in the EU, though its outgoing mayor is campaigning to leave. Could London thrive outside the EU? How much has London gained from Europe – and Europe gained from London?
