Marine Le Pen’s National Front to stand trial for fraud

French media reported in October 2016 that several members of the National Front party were set to stand on trial over suspected illegal campaign financing and fraud during the 2012 presidential and legislative elections.

Authorities suspect the party ran a scheme that allowed it to illegally benefit from state financing of campaign costs.
