On 19 May 2017, European Council President Donald Tusk and EU High Representative / European Commissioner Federica Mogherini met with Professor Yoon Je Cho, the Special Envoy of the newly elected President Moon Jae-in of the Republic of Korea.

Both sides reasserted their dedication to the Strategic Partnership between the European Union and the Republic of Korea and to the denuclearisation of the Korean Peninsula.
