Meeting between the EU’s High Representative for Foreign Policy and the US Secretary of State

The European Union's High Representative for Foreign and Security Policy Federica Mogherini travelled to the United States on 9-10 February 2017, where she met with representatives of the new US administration and Congress.

On 9 February 2017, the EU's High Representative held a meeting with the US Secretary of State Rex W. Tillerson to discuss the state of relations between the European Union and the United States and other issues of mutual interest.

After the meetings Federica Mogherini said that the relationship between the European Union and the United States was strong and went beyond any change of administration.

She talked in depth with her US interlocutors on issues including Syria, counter-terrorism, Russia and Ukraine, Libya, the implementation of the Iran nuclear deal and the Middle East Peace Process.
