Meeting: Economic and Financial Affairs Council, 8 March 2016

A meeting of the Economic and Monetary Affairs Council took place on 8 March 2016, in Brussels. The agenda included the following topics:

+ Adoption of a political agreement on the proposed amendment on the directive on mandatory exchange of information in the field of taxation;

+ Adoption of conclusions on the future of the Code of Conduct in the area of business taxation;

+ Adoption of conclusions on the fiscal sustainability report for 2015, which was issued in January 2016;

+ Briefing by the presidency of the Council of the European Union and the European Commission on the state of play of the implementation of the banking union legislation;

+ Briefing by the European Commission on the G20 meetings of finance ministers and central bank governors which took place in Schangai on 26-27 February 2016;

+ Exchange of views on the implementation of country-specific recommendations from the 2015 European Semester, namely as regards the recommendations on investment;

+ Discussion on the steps to be taken under the excessive deficit procedure and under the excessive imbalances procedure.
