On 15 April 2014, Neelie Kroes, European Commissioner for Digital Agenda, welcomed European Parliament votes on cheaper and easier to install broadband, on eCall, on research to keep Active an Assisted Living and Electronics.

The European Parliament voted on EU rules which would cut by 30% the cost of rolling out high-speed Internet.
