Pressure on the European Commission to water down aspects of its ambitious plan to overhaul regulation of the European telecoms sector will increase April 2008 when a key parliamentary report on the proposed legislation is made public. Catherine Trautmann, the former French Communications Minister who is steering parts of the package through the European ­parliament, is expected to say that reform of the management of spectrum – or radio waves – should only be gradual.
