MEPs waive immunity for Marine Le Pen over anti-Muslim comment

Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) were expected to lift parliamentary immunity for French far-right leader Marine Le Pen in a vote in July 2013. Le Pen was facing possible prosecution for comparing Islamic immigration in France to the ‘Nazi occupation.’

On the 2 of July 2013 The European Parliament has removed the immunity of the French far-right leader and MEP Marine Le Pen, paving the way for her prosecution in France.
