Merkel Goes to Washington / Back home after icy Trump meeting, Merkel calls for open markets

Preview and reports of visits by Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel to the United States in March 2017 for a formal meeting as current chair of the G20 with new US President Donald Trump [the meeting was planned for 14 March 2017 but was postponed until 17 March 2017 due to weather conditions in the US].

Previewing the meeting Judy Dempsey suggested that when she met the US president the German chancellor would have the awesome task of defending Germany, Europe, and the Western liberal order.
