Monti calls for boost to eurozone bail-out firepower

Italy has saved itself 'from the edge of the precipice', Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti declared on the 28 December 2011, defending the record of his six-week-old government while calling on the European Union to deliver a coherent response to the eurozone debt crisis by substantially increasing its bail-out fund, the European Financial Stability Facility.
