NATO Chiefs of Defence give direction and guidance to implement Wales Summit decisions

Report from the NATO Military Committee Conference 2014 in Vilnius, Lithuania, September 2014, at which military chiefs started to implement some of the strategic decisions taken at the NATO Summit in Wales earlier in September 2014.

At the Wales Summit, NATO Allies agreed a Readiness Action Plan that will strengthen NATO’s collective defence and ensure the Alliance was ready to respond to any future security challenge. The Military Authorities now took the next step in guiding and directing the implementation of a Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF), able to deploy at short notice.

The Military Committee (MC) is the senior military authority in NATO.
