Background and further information:

This progress report highlights step taken to prevent terrorist financing through trafficking in cultural goods and improve the interoperability of EU information systems. It also points out the remaining gaps and challenges to be addressed, based on an assessment of EU security policy since 2001.

Work undertaken regarding security policy has been guided by the European Agenda on Security, which sets out the main actions to ensure an effective EU response to terrorism and security threats. The progress achieved is reflected in reports published by the Commission like the present one.
