No plans for EU embassy in Iran despite improving relations

Despite the improvement of the relations between the EU and Iran, EUObserver reported on the 31 October 2013 that the EEAS had no plans to open an embassy in that country of the Middle East, after the European Parliament had urged for it to go ahead.

Subsequently, there was a meeting of the E3/EU+3 with Iran in geneva on the 7-10 November 2013 to discuss the nuclear issue. News sites and the EEAS reported that Iran, EU and US voiced optimism on a nuclear deal. However, some suggested that France had blocked a deal between UN powers and Iran on the issue.
