Opening speech by High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini at the 2016 EDA Conference

On 10 November 2016, the High Representative/Vice-President Federica Mogherini at the 2016 European Defence Agency (EDA) Conference named "The Industrial Evolution or Revolution in Defence" acknowledged the hard work which had been carried out so as to set up the European Union Global Strategy for Foreign and Security Policy. She also emphasised the prevailing necessity to work towards a stronger Europe of defence.

At the conference three parallel processes were running at the same time- namely the implementation of the Global Strategy, with the Implementation Plan on security and defence, the European Defence Action Plan, and the follow-up to the Joint European Union-NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) signed in Warsaw the previous July.
