Press Release: Council adopts revised EU tobacco directive

On 14 March 2014, the Council of European Union approved a revised EU tobacco directive, following the first-reading agreement reached with the European Parliament in December.

The main objective of the directive's revision was to make tobacco products less attractive, especially to young people, by strengthening the rules on how tobacco products can be manufactured, presented and sold.
