On 07 August 2015, the European Commission proposed to provide Italy with €1.4 million from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund (EGF) to help 184 former workers of Alitalia find new jobs. Most of the redundancies occurred in the region of Lazio, as a result of the decline of the EU's market share in international passenger air transport between 2008 and 2014. An additional €900 000 would be paid by national sources. The proposal was due to be submitted to the European Parliament and the EU's Council of Ministers for approval. |
