The European Parliament's economic and monetary affairs committee approved on 16 June 2015 a resolution on economic governance in the European Union and its Eurozone.

The draft text considers that economic governance rules in place for the euro area were not working as well as they should, due to their complexity, lack of ownership and inconstency in its enforcement.

This document, which assesses the economic governance architecture and recommends improvements, was scheduled to be voted in plenary by the EP on 24 June 2015 and be used as the chamber's input to the European Council taking place on 25-26 June 2015.
