The Council of the European Union on 21 April 2015 appointed Mr Jeppe Tranholm-Mikkelsen as the next Secretary-General of the Council for the period from 1 July 2015 to 30 June 2020.

This follows an agreement reached at the European Council of 19 March 2015.
