Press Release: MEPs push for card payment fee caps and online payment safeguards

Under new rules voted by the European Parliament on the 3 April 2014, the fees that banks charge retailers for processing shoppers’ payments would be capped.

On the same day, a separate vote approved measures to make online payments safer, reduce costs and give users more choice.
