Press Release: MEPs ratify EU-Kosovo Association Agreement

The European Parliament's plenary session voted on 21 January 2016 in favour of the Stabilisation and Association agreement between Kosovo and the European Union.

This was seens as an important first formal step in Kosovo's integration into Europe. The agreement was set to form the backbone of strengthened political association and economic integration between the two sides.

The agreement would be adopted after the consent of the Council of the European Union. Member states did not need to formally ratify this agreement.
