A series of coordinated terrorist suicide bomb attacks in central London took place on the 7 July 2005. The attacks targeted civilians using the public transport system (buses and underground) during the rush hour.

An attempted further set of co-ordinated attacks took place on the public transport network in London on the 21 July 2005. The perpetrators were all arrested and were sentenced in 2007 to life imprisonment.
