On 25 April 2017, the Council adopted a regulation on the emissions of mercury and mercury compounds into the air, water and land. After the Council approved this position, the Regulation could be published in the Official Journal of the European Union, once both the President of the European Parliament and the Council signed the act, and was to enter into force 20 days after publication.
