Read my lips: No new taxes, says Hollande – Hollande hints he may not seek re-election if unemployment keeps rising

During a live TV appearance on 6 November 2014, in an attempt to shake off record-low approval ratings, French president François Hollande announced that he did not intend to impose any more taxes on anyone in 2015, and that we would not seek re-election should he fail to bring down unemployment rates.
