Reunification talks collapse before Cyprus EU stint

EurActiv reported that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said in April 2012 that progress in the talks to reunify the divided island of Cyprus was insufficient to call an international conference. The statement appeared to put an end to hopes that Cyprus' EU Presidency in the second half of 2012 would be a catalyst for the resolution of the Cyprus problem
