Article reported that President Nicolas Sarkozy said in January 2012 that he would give up politics and 'change life completely' if he failed to win re-election in the French Presidential election in April 2012, in a rare admission that he could be defeated. However, the Elysée insisted Mr Sarkozy’s remarks had been over-interpreted.
