Sarkozy’s fund starts to win over critics

France’s Strategic Investment Fund, launched in a fanfare of economic patriotism by Nicolas Sarkozy, president, in late 2008, appeared to win over critics who had suspected it was a tool of protectionism, as it reported on its first full year of operation in January 2010.
