Scottish National Party (SNP) leader Nicola Sturgeon said on the 13 September 2015 that a second independence referendum would be proposed in the party manifesto ahead of regional elections in 2016.

One year after the referendum which decided to keep Scotland as part of the United Kingdom, Ms Sturgeon said that Prime Minister David Cameron was 'living on borrowed time' as he sought to prevent Scotland leaving the UK.
